Tidbit Tuesday: Repurpose

Well it's Tuesday again (this time it really is Tuesday) and I have a tidbit for you. I love repurposing items whenever I can and this one is simple and requires no effort on your part, assuming this item is in your possession.

I have lived in the south for one year and there seems to be more bugs down here, particularly flies. Maybe it's more apparent because we spend more time outside, but either way, bugs abound, especially in the summer months. When we were in Italy last month, we stayed in a beautiful farm house, Masseria Il Frantoio, and they used doilies to cover their food items. Now I have quite a few doilies, all of which have been past down from my mom. I do use some of them on my furniture, mainly the ones that are handmade and are a very old art-form. I still have plenty that could be donated to a new cause, that being food safety. So, the simple task of applying a doily as a cover to your pitcher of lemonade provides a use for a likely unused item. It might even add a touch of nostalgia to your table setting. It's like using cloth napkins, something else I have grown to love. Both these items are reusable, you just throw them in the wash and use them over and over again.

Tidbits aren't meant to be life-changing but perhaps this one will create a new use for an old item. Maybe give it a try next time the flies are flying around your table.
