The sky goes with you
No matter where you go, the sky always goes with you!
We all have our favorite place to visit.
Some like the woods.
Others prefer the mountains.
Maybe yours is a babbling brook or an icy-cold glacier lake.
They all have beauty.
My favorite place is to be by the sea. To me, there's nothing like the salty breeze of the ocean, with waves crashing at my feet.
However, the one thing that shrouds all the beautiful places in nature is the sky.
Whether by the sea or on a trek in the woods, your senses are at their peak. You breathe in the smell of pine trees or the squishy moss on the ground. Perhaps you taste the damp earth as you inhale with each step. You may hear birds chirping rather deliberately in the distance. No matter where you are, whether deep in the woods or on a pristene mountain top, your senses are being tantalized under the great expanse of the sky.
I once wrote in a blog post that the sky is like the ocean, only silent. It's always changing, moving, and drifting just like the sea. However, you can't hear the sky, taste or smell it, and you certainly can't touch the sky. I suppose you can hear the sky when a storm is brewing but that’s the clouds crashing. For the most part, the sky itself is silent.
I can't always be at the ocean. Maybe you can't always be on a trek in the mountains, but we can take in the magnificent sky every day no matter where we are. All we need to do is lookup. Look up and absorb the color, dimension, depth, and ultimate beauty. Wonder how far away it is. Where it begins and where it ends. Does it even have a beginning and end?
On the 4th of July, fireworks danced in the distance while we were on the water in our boat. I was in awe of the beauty of the sky and wishing I could share this moment with all my loved ones. As I gazed at the sky, I thought of heaven and those I love that are no longer here on this earth. The feeling of sadness escaped me as I began to feel comfort in knowing the beauty and peace they experience each and every moment. Heaven is far better than anything I could possibly imagine. They have the answers. Heaven is no longer a mystery to them, only to us. I can only imagine and continue to enjoy all this world has to offer.
