commitment
Commitment allows one to endure…
June 25, 1960
Today, I remember and honor the marriage of two people sixty years ago.
It was a day celebrated by many, but for some of us who were not eye-witnesses, we became an extension of this union.
Marriage is about love, of course, but so much more.
It’s a promise to commit your life to another.
I’m wondering if the deliberate act of commitment is lost these days? Some would agree and some would argue it’s not lost, it just has taken on a new form. I suppose that might be true, but the verdict is still out for me. I hope I’m wrong.
Commitment requires hard work. Perhaps, there is more of a tendency to quit instead of sustain? Or maybe some are not willing to compromise or change? Many fall victims to: the grass always seems greener on the other side. For a marriage to last sixty years, there had to be plenty of give and take and forgiveness and love.
Once in a while, a photo captures an expression that cannot be put into words.
This picture is one of my favorite photos because it captures
a moment of pure adoration.
Their love brought them together and will keep them together although physically apart.
Their love lives on in the hearts of those that were a result of their love.
Give me a boat that can carry two and both shall row, my love and I.
(forewarning- song may make you cry-although oh, so beautiful)
